“And that’s how we roll….”
What a day!!! The rain held off and Prattville Alabama’s schoolchildren turned out to welcome arriving eight hubs to the WWII Memorial. Serendipitously, their school trip to DC coinicided with the Alabama hub’s plans and they formed up to cheer the Veterans from all the hubs as they entered and left the Memorial. Great stuff!WWII Memorial
Senator Dole was there and Ted Adams is seen here “pinning” Senator Dole with a Minnesota Honor Flight flag.

Matt Mabe gets cropped out of lot of pictures but he is there every Saturday to help Senator Dole….you can see him discretely to the right in the white box.  He’s a great guy and performs a discreet and unrecognized function in that he makes sure our favorite Senator doesn’t wear himself out.

Lona Ichikawa (bottom) has the ground crew organized into relatively easy to handle segments so the DC crew doesn’t get worn out.  Three thousand WWII veterans were transported in April so Senator Dole has a full time job as do many of the volunteers.  Spacing out the responsibilities keeps everyone fresh.  There were so many Veterans today that they were spread out eating lunch along the lawns.
