Saturday, May 3rd was particularly exciting at the World War II Memorial. Honor Flight groups from seven states participated during the weekend. It began with dinner at the Hyatt on Friday night with Tracy Briggs. As usual, she said this is her “last trip” (we hope not!!) for the WDAY North Dakota Group. Senator Dorgan and Robert T. Reynolds (National Commander for the DAV) were both at the dinner to kick off the weekend activities. Although I’ve heard those North Dakotans are tee-totalers, rumor has it that chief fund raiser.
Lance entertained the troops until the wee hours. Despite that, it was a chipper group that showed up Staturday AM and worked tirelessly throughout the day. There were 160 vets and as usual, a bit of serendipity happened when a high school band showed up to play while the vets wandered around the Memorial. There’s a lot of “serendipity” that goes on and I put it down to all the good karma! Photos are available at the photo site for the book.
