Of Note at World War II Memorial

World War II Memorial
These volunteers and soon to be graduates from Aberdeen Proving grounds showed up to say hello to the Honor Flight group.

World War II Memorial
And a first for Honor Flight! Senator Dole greeted a young couple (send us your names!!) who had come down to the WWII Memorial as part of their wedding celebration. He’s active status and will be shipping off soon for Iraq.

It was also a record breaking day for handshaking. Senator Dole who’s mastered the “art of the handshake” speculated he may have lost the election to Bill Clinton whom he claims shook more hands than he during their race for President!!!  It’s hard to imagine anyone with more persistence (or more class) than Senator Dole.

My assistants Marian and Seth (in real life, highly paid DC attorneys) are shown here taking pictures for families and individuals who have their own cameras with them. It’s a good thing Seth got that Ph.D in mechanical engineering along with his law degree as he is able to cope with every format of still and video  camera handed to him.  Senator Dole favors the “throw away” brands of cameras as they always work!! He is forever proclaiming their virtues…. Nikon…eat your heart out!!!

Honor Flight is featured in Jewel of the Mall: World War II Memorial book.
