Honor Flight Training for Washington, DC guardians

In preparation for Honor Flight season and several flights that are requesting multiple guardians from the local area – we are scheduling Guardian Training for any who would be interested in attending.  The training will be held at:

American Legion Dyer Gunnell Post 180
330 North Center Street
Vienna, VA   22180
1-3 PM
or
1300-1500

“The training will go over the duties of a Guardian and what you’re expected to do when adopting a “Dad” or “Mom” for a day.  If you have been a guardian on previous ocassions, you do not have to attend, but it is a good idea to come – just to have a refresher.  If you have not filled out an application, we will have them there for you.  Please come a little early if you plan to fill out the application there.  If you wish to fill out the application in advance, please go to www.honorflight.org <http://www.honorflight.org/>  to get the applicatiion and forward it to heroeswelcomeiad@gmail.com..”

We hope to have an EMT or paramedic from the local Fire Department come out so that he/she can provide guidance on the medical frailties of our most honored guests.  Falls are one of our key concerns and we need to watch out for this very carefully throughout the day.

Please let me know if you will be able to attend.  We will have another Guardian Training sometime in April as well.

The most significant sized trip we have requesting guardians is May 2, 2010
(yes, a Sunday) and it is coming from Wisconsin.  It is the Stars and Stripes Honor Flight group. You can get in touch with Judi’s email at Judi Wybenga <heroeswelcomeiad@gmail.com>
