Long Island Makes Second Trip of the Year

WWII Memorial
Chris Cosich and his Long Island group arrived at the WWII Memorial today. It’s good to see that my home turf is well-represented and active in Honor Flight. This is their second trip of the year and I believe they plan two more in the Fall.

Here’s a family grouping. Honoree of the day was 1st Lt. Michael Conway who is with the 82nd Airborne Division, a West Point Grad and he is seen in the picture below with his mom, Mary Conway of Flushing, Ny and his grandad John O’Shaughnessy, a Veteran and retired fireman. As I was photographing, Michael was asked to be in every group and Senator Dole kept him next to his side and asked that we all cheer for this active duty Vet. He is off to Iraq this fall for a second tour of duty.

Honor Flight is featured in Jewel of the Mall: World War II Memorial book.
