Earl Morse, Founder of Honor Flight

Honor Flight, WWII MemorialEarl Morse is a retired physician’s assistant and pilot who began flying vets from Ohio to the WWII Memorial in Washington in 2005. He was soon joined by Jeff Miller out of Hendersonville, North Carolina who began to charter jets. If you go to the Honor Flight schedule you will see flights of Veterans going to the WWII Memorial on three days a week. The whole deal is FREE and the money is raised by local communities to honor these veterans.

There are Honor Flight organizations is 24 states and the plan is to go from 5000 vets last year to 10000 in 2008 and hopefully double that in 2009. Naturally there’s a “window of opportunity” as these vets are eighty years old but still spunky!! The Honor Flight Network is now in twenty-four states and plans are for 10000 vets to visit the WWII Memorial.

Honor Flight is purchasing my books at cost and giving them to the Veterans at the end of their trip as a memento. I have finally found my audience and it is gratifying to work with all the Honor Flight volunteers. Honor Flight will be recognized by the White House News Photographers Association at the annual awards dinner in May.

Jewel of the Mall: World War II Memorial is a 120 page full color photographic book on the WWII Memorial.
