Go Gurl!!!!

Pat Foote and Toby, WWII Memorial
I met Pat Foote (left) or “General” Pat Foote (if she needs your attention!) in 2004 when I photographed her with Toby Felker for a special edition of the The Washington Post Magazine. Pat’s license plate says “gogurl” and she is a whirlwind of change, a supporter of women’s rights in and out of the military and a good friend. She was on the site selection committee of the WWII Memorial, organized and fund raised and worked to achieve the beautiful Women in Military Service Museum located in Arlington Cemetery. She has also formed a group called “Friends of the WWII Memorial” to make sure that the funds allocated for the maintainence of the WWII Memorial are well-spent.

I was photographing Honor Flight’s Convention held in DC this February and looked over to see Pat who immediately offered her services to Honor Flight. I suspect the Women in Military Service will be working with Honor Flight to transport women’s flights. As a General, Pat Foote made her mark and as a civilian, she has worked tirelessly to promote good causes. When the book first came out, she had me meet her at Fort Lee for a convention of 250 WACS where I sold a few books and was totally intimidated by 250 women who had risen to considerable rank. It was a great time.

Jewel of the Mall: World War II Memorial is a 120 page full color photographic book on the WWII Memorial.
